Deaths stay with you forever

This lady just used the time her dad died as a point of referencing her life. At first I wondered why she was saying that, its a bit morbid and how it would concern us to know she left after the summer her dad died and I was think how simply she said that, with out much sadness and then i realized that she is using that as a reference to how things happened because it was such a significant, important, and life changing thing and that is why she is referencing it and using it as a point to remember the time line of the things in her life. Because it was a moment in her life she would never forget and that is why people use deaths to remember the order of other events happening.
